NYNEHEAD GEOLOGICAL SURVEY

geology

Because this image [click to enlarge] was compiled from more than one source there are some colour discrepancies between areas indicating the same rock e.g. f5 indicating Upper Sandstone. All the Nynehead Parish geology is Triassic and Permian. Older rock ocurrs just to the west in Bathealton and Stawley where cd indicates Pilton Beds from the Carboniferous and Devonian. Shown on the map, but not ocurring in Nynehead Parish [at lower right], are e2 Lower Sandstone and Breccia; e3 the Lower Marls; and f2 Pebble Beds and Conglomerate [Bunter].
